From Mike (Hapori Eco-cohousing) on passive solar housing design for Hapori, San Miguel de Allende MX.
1st gif – Summer sun on our houses (north covered porch)
2nd gif – Spring and autumn (south side).
Minimal sun penetration prevents overheating during the local hot season (spring)
The hottest part falls after the equinox, with even less sun penetration.
3rd gif – Winter sun reaches deep inside (south side), to provide heating, which is absorbed into the thermal mass of the floor.
Guanajuato, Mexico is a perfect climate to implement passive thermal design.
