Step 1 – Observe. Pay attention to your land and surroundings, document your process.

Step 2 – Plan. What is the next cycle of your village? How will you execute it? What materials do you need? What skills do you need to bring in?

Step 3 – Design. Apply site planning principles to integrate knowledge gained from step 1 and requirements from step 2 to determine a master plan that remains flexible and can be implemented in logical stages. Consider work and resource areas, and managing environmental impacts of construction.

Step 4 – Build. Turn your ideas into work in the land. Get your hands dirty. Keep an eye open for opportunities and “happy accidents”

Step 5 – Iterate. Reflect on the cycle, harvest insights, and go back to step 1. Observe your village, and prepare for another cycle.
