      Earthships generally require non-expansive soil. Our local soil is extremely expansive due to the dramatic difference between wet and dry season soil moisture levels in the region. Which means you generally need to truck in non-expansive soil (which defeats the point), or build in the particular areas with non-expansive soil (which receive no rain so the ground is just sterile).
      And of course, sustainable living in places with no rain and no ability to grow food is a problem…
